This first two country tiles will be very easy to create. But as you move on to the ones that follow they will get a little more difficult. Because of the ease of this tutorial I did not use any visual aids. The final tile will look like the one used on this page. The supplies you will need are Paintshop Pro and that's it.
Step 1 Open a new canvas 10 x 100 pixels Step 2 Chose two colors that coordinate for a country look for your foreground and background colors. Step 3 Now using your lighter color flood fill the 10 x 100 pixel image. Step 4 Go to image, add borders and set the right and left to 5, top and bottom to 0. Step 5 Now flip the colors so the one you used is now the foreground color, then go add another border. You should be seeing a line added to the right and left sides of what you started with. Step 6 Continue to do that until you reach 95 pixels in width making sure you flip your colors back and forth. When you reach 95 pixels in width then go back to image, add borders this time put a 0 in the left side. The only one no that is 5 is the right side. Step 7 The final step is to go to your layer palatte and slide your opacity bar down to 50. Now save your image.
Now onto the next country tile which is also used on this page. it's another fairly easy one but it teaches you the different effects your settings on the layer palatte can do for an image.
Step 1 This time open a new canvas 100 x 100 pixels. Flood fill it with the lighter of the two colors you chose earlier. Step 2 Add a new layer, flood fill it with the darker of the two. Step 3 Now go to your layer palatte and click on the arrow next to normal on the right side and choose dissolve. Slide your opacity bar down to 1. Now merge all layers visible and bring your opacity down to 50 as before. Now your done with a suddle background to go with the striped tile on a page set like this one.
